Irá decorrer em Serpa, entre 16 e 21 de Junho, mais uma edição do Doc's Kingdom – Seminário Internacional sobre Cinema Documental, organizado pela AporDOC.

A edição de 2009 é subordinada ao tema,

REINTERROGAR A IMAGEM POLÍTICA
"Ainda nas cinzas dum século que foi da política e do cinema, como pensar hoje as relações entre estes dois campos? Começando por evocar gestos seminais de uma época em que já tinham sido questionados radicalmente os termos dessa dicotomia (a viragem dos anos sessenta para setenta), avançamos depois para filmes recentes que nos ajudam a pensar o intervalo decorrido e a abertura de novos ciclos. Por um lado, obras em que pesa a agonia dum tempo – a política depois da política do século XX, a política depois da política. Por outro, explorações cinematográficas de territórios marcados pela memória, ou pela ruína desse tempo. Por outro ainda, novos libelos políticos directos que, num equilíbrio hoje raríssimo, se desenrolam também como um discurso sobre o uso da imagem. Algumas pistas, num programa que não se pretende sistematizador, antes é feito de interrogações parciais, de títulos que podem abrir fendas nos clichés que perduram. Ainda e sempre: o que é uma imagem política?"

REQUESTIONING THE POLITICAL IMAGE
"Still on the ashes of a century that was of politics and of the cinema, how can we address today the relationships between these two fields? Starting by evoking seminal gestures of an era when the terms of that dichotomy had already been radically questioned (the turn from the sixties to the seventies), we will then move towards recent films that may help us think about the time elapsed and the opening of new cycles. On the one hand, films that reflect the agony of an age – politics after the 20th Century politics, politics after politics. On the other hand, film explorations of territories that bear a strong imprint from memories, or ruins, of that previous time. On the other still, new gestures of political accusation that, in a very rare combination nowadays, also unfold as a reflection on the use of image. Some possible clues in a program not aiming at systematization; it is rather built on partial questions, titles that may open cracks on the remaining clichés. Now and ever: what is a political image?"
